Hi there. I am Saul Reisman in Saul’s Automotive.
Today we are going to talk about a very specific piece of Colorado’s Law on auto repair and how to protect you as the consumers when you are getting your motor vehicle repair.
In 1992, The Colorado motor vehicle repair act was enacted with the goals protecting the consumers and giving the auto repair industry a good basis in Industry standard to help ensure the quality of service across the board.
Often times here in Saul’s Automotive we have somebody coming to our door and say that they need to drop their vehicle off, they like to get it checked out. Though ask very specifically, now you are going to call us before you are going to do any work or you are going to make sure that you talked to us before doing anything or what is the cause for us to take a look and find out these questions.
As an Auto Repair Show owner in Denver Colorado, almost painful because it tells us that this person has been mistreated in the past.
The Colorado motor vehicle repair act in 1992 states that you, as the owner, are not only entitled to estimate before any repair. As an independent repair facility or as a dealership facility we must provide a written detailed estimate with lined items of every single parts used, the labor involved with each component and the cost associated for each and every piece and part, if there are any taxes, any fees, mandatory recycling fees like the state environmental fees. Those must be list down there as well.
Additionally, this estimates must be provided to you written and described, walked through with the owner before it can be approved in any way.
Assuming that it does get approved and you decide that you like to drop your vehicle off for service, the law also states that if anything changes along the way, or if we take a look at your vehicle and we found an additional problem in any way shape or form, we must stop service immediately. We must put our tools down and call you at that point to let you know what we are looking at, or it may need an addition or a negatory towards what repair was originally requested and how we can best help to keep you on the road.
If you have a bad experience in an Auto Repair Shop where you have worked perform that you did not authorize or you came back to find a bill that is bigger than what you have approved, or you had any other issue of not being described on what was going on with your car, How it is being repaired, please come and see us.
